In a nuclear power plant, steam generators are used to convert hot water from the primary loop (in contact with nuclear fuel) to steam in the secondary loop (which then goes on to produce electricity from large-scale turbines). Condition are here extreme, 315 °C, 160 bars in the first loop of PWR and fission products in the water going through the steam generators. Tubes inside the steam generators are aging and do need to be monitored on regular basis for wear, stress corrosion cracking, pitting corrosion, flaw accelerated corrosion, intergranular attack...
