Nuclear power plants, reprocessing facilities and waste repositories often present areas that preclude human access or operations that are repetitive or time-consuming. Traditional survey methods do have limitations in these environments and optimising resources can be difficult.

Finding better ways to monitor plant conditions, improving operational awareness, support remote inspection, dosage reduction, decommissioning or emergency planning and more will help these facilities operate more efficiently and safely.

To increase the safety, efficiency, and cost- effectiveness of industrial estates and here specifically nuclear assets, tasks such as remote inspections are usually considered for automation and real time. In the near future, this will require the ability to adapt to varied scenarios so not to create a profusion of robotic solutions with limited, non-expandable, capability.
