When it comes to the maintenance or construction in nuclear power plants, operators and contractors are often facing anchoring issues. Indeed, most of the time, anchoring problematics rely on post installed anchors (PIA) ie: dowels, which requires concrete scanning before drilling, and therefore a difficult task as it is hard to realize most of the time due to rebar high density.
Because drilling is problematic in safety-associated structures -such as the reactor containment building in a nuclear power plant-, dowelling into the structures often is limited or even forbidden.
